Imaginaries: Speculative Architecture and Ecological Futures in Drawing

The Imaginaries are a series of speculative architectural drawings that construct evolving architectural worlds, where space is not conceived as a fixed or final form, but as a continuous sequence of transformations unfolding across time, material processes, and multiple forms of agency. Positioned within the discourse of experimental architecture and future design thinking, these works explore new relationships between the built environment, ecology, and non-human systems. Situated between architectural drawing, ecological mapping, and surreal narrative, the Imaginaries operate as dense, hand-drawn landscapes that challenge conventional modes of architectural representation. Executed in a stark black-and-white palette, they employ repetition, texture, and intricate line-work to generate spatial fields that feel both systematic and unstable, bridging precision with abstraction. Order and disruption coexist within these compositions. Rhythmic patterns and modular geometries evoke industrial systems and urban infrastructures, yet they are continuously unsettled by forces of distortion, erosion, and mutation. Through this tension, the drawings propose a form of post-anthropocentric architecture—one that is not static, but contingent, shaped by dynamic interactions between the built, the biological, and the temporal. Rather than depicting resolved architectural objects, the Imaginaries foreground processes of transformation, decay, and regeneration.
